Ridgeline Discovery is looking for an (Associate) Director, Computer Aided Drug Design . Ridgeline Discovery is a Versant Ventures Discovery Engine located in Basel, Switzerland. The Director, Computer Aided Drug Design is responsible for structural design and computational R&D support to Ridgeline’s portfolio companies. The director oversees a team of CADD scientists, machine learning specialists and data scientists supporting the entire drug discovery process from hit finding to candidate selection. RESPONSIBILITIES Leading and contributing to design and execution of the computational strategy, activities, and infrastructure for Ridgeline Discovery Engine-supported biotech companies Design and optimize novel drug candidates by integrating protein modeling, molecular docking based on X-ray or homology models, ligand-based design, library design, diversity analysis, conformational analysis, and pharmacophore modeling Contribute to the data science strategy of establishing pipelines, exploring new artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and developing new computational approaches making use of machine learning, or cloud-based solutions Research into new computational R&D tools and methods relevant to the drug discovery and development process Engage with global research, industry, and standards development communities to identify and implement new technologies and best practices QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. in computational chemistry, chemistry, molecular modeling, structural biology, or related field with a computational emphasis and at least 5-10 years of experience directly applied to projects in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical sector Demonstrated track record of leveraging digital techniques to drive drug discovery projects or impacting hit finding activities in a drug discovery environment A comprehensive understanding of data mining and visualization, ligand, and structure-based design, physics-based and machine learning-based methods, conformational analysis, and pharmacophore development Solid background in protein structure and experience in tools for protein analysis/design Expert knowledge of modern computational drug design packages and tools, with an emphasis on molecular dynamics, structure prediction and analysis, virtual screening/docking, and free energy determination Understanding of the antibody discovery and optimization process is a plus Programming experience is a plus Highly self-motivated, intellectually curious individual Eager to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary start-up environment Strong team player WHAT WE CURRENTLY OFFER Offices: Our well-equipped laboratories and offices are located at the Technologiepark, a premier address for early-stage start-ups in Basel.
