      The Nash Lab (University of Basel, Chemistry & ETH Zurich D-BSSE) is seeking a reliable and skilled Laboratory Technician to manage and support day-to-day wet-lab operations in our research program. The role has a potential to grow into a long-term contribution to the lab.


      Your position

      The role focuses on ensuring smooth lab organization, coordinating maintenance of instruments, preparation of media and solutions, and support across molecular biology and biochemistry workflows such as protein production and purification, cloning, and cell culture. Key responsibilities include:

      • Overseeing laboratory operations, including purchasing and management of consumables and reagents.
      • Preparing media, buffers, and solutions to support molecular biology and biochemistry workflows.
      • Supporting researchers with experimental tasks as needed (e.g., protein purification, molecular cloning, cell culture).
      • Maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instruments; coordinating service and calibration.
      • Managing and documenting the lab inventory in line with good laboratory practices.
      • Ensuring a safe and efficient laboratory environment, primarily at BSL-1 with potential work at BSL-2, by following safety regulations, collaborating with team members, and optimizing workflows.

      Your profile

      • Professional training as a Laboratory Technician ("Ausbildung" or equivalent).
      • Optional: bachelor or masters degree in a relevant field.
      • Hands-on experience preparing media, buffers and reagents and familiarity with common molecular biology and protein biochemistry techniques (e.g., cloning, SDS-PAGE, chromatography, cell culture basics).
      • Experience with maintaining laboratory equipment and managing consumable inventories.
      • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
      • Ability to communicate in English and German is required.
