Senior Network Engineer

Job description:

This is an initial contract running for 3 years with strong likelihood to extend on a long-term basis (up to max five years) based on the project road maps, with start date by November 2025.

The Network Engineer will work in an experienced and diverse Infrastructure Team and focus on implementing, automating, and supporting advanced networking technologies across a diverse range of platforms, with a special emphasis on Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA).

The successful candidate will also provide operational support for the Bank's networking technologies and solutions, including traditional on-premises infrastructure, software-defined networking, and public cloud environments.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide operational support for the Bank's networking systems, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Infoblox (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) and Cisco SDA environments.
• Implement, automate, and optimize advanced networking technologies, with a focus on Cisco SDA.
• Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to design and deliver robust networking solutions.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide timely support for network issues that may arise outside of core business hours.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of network monitoring and management tools, including Checkmk.
• Leverage experience with firewalls, load balancers and data centre technologies for example on platforms such as Palo Alto, F5, and Cisco ACI to enhance overall network performance and security.
• Ensure compliance with organizational standards and best practices for network operations. 

About the customer:

As the premier supplier to our international banking client in Basel, Swisslinx are looking for a Senior Network Engineer with expertise in Cisco SDA, as well as other tools likes Checkmk and Infoblox for a 3 year contract running until Q4 2028.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you will possess as many of the following skills as possible:

• Proven expertise in network engineering, with hands-on experience in Infoblox (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) and Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA).
• Experience with network monitoring tools like CheckMK is required.
• Good knowledge of Cisco ACI, with the ability to implement and automate solutions.
• Knowledge of wireless network management and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated ability to provide third-level support and contribute to network design in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with other networking platforms such as Palo Alto, F5, and Cisco ISE is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to thrive in a global, enterprise-level environment.
• Fluency in English
